Overview

In this article, we will use your computer to control the X32 mixer. Before we synchronize the X32 and your computer, be sure to connect the X32 directly to your computer via the ethernet jack and open the X32 Edit application.

There are two steps to set up the X32 mixer with the Edit App: assign an IP address on your X32 and then synchronize the X32 and the X32 Edit. Follow the instructions below to get started!

Step 1: Automatic or Manual Setup

Assigning an IP address on your X32 can be done in two ways. The Automatic Method (Option A) will work for most users and is the option we recommend. However, the Manual Method (Option B) is the method to use if you need to coordinate a large number of devices on the same network. Once you decide which method is best for you, select that option to begin step 1 of 2.

Option A: Automatic (Recommended)

1. Press Setup and select the Network tab.

2. Press the first encoder to engage DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol).

Note: DHCP is highlighted orangewhen turned on. The router will automatically assign an IP address to the X32 if you choose the DHPC setting.

Option B: Manual

1. Press Setup and select the Network tab.

2. In the X32 Edit app, select Setup and view the Connection menu.

3. Enter your computer’s IP address from the Connection menu into the IP address field of your X32, but change the last digit.

Example: If the computer’s IP address is 192.168.1.1, set the X32 to 192.168.1.2. If you are not able to enter an IP Address, press the first encoder to disengage DHCP.

4. Adjust the following settings:

• Set the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0.
• Set the Gateway to 0.0.0.0.

Step 2: Synchronize the X32 and X32 Edit App

Now that the IP address has been assigned, we can connect the hardware to the software. Follow the instructions below.

How to Connect the X32 to the X32 Edit App

1. In the X32 Edit app, select Setup and view the Connection menu.

2. Depending on which option you chose, do the following:

• Option A: Automatic If the mixer was set to DHCP, simply click Rescan.
• Option B: Manual If the mixer’s IP was set manually, enter the IP address of your X32 and click Manual IP.

3. Select your mixer from the list and click Connect.
