| posted 02-27-14 01:03 PM CT (US) 1 / 4 This tutorial is misleading (or at least the title). Age of Empires 2 and Age of Empires 2 HD are two separate games, despite being very similar. Most importantly - they are sold separately! If you buy AOE2, you won't get the HD version and if you buy HD, you won't get the normal version. Therefore you can't play a version you don't own. You can't play the HD version outside of Steam.
